Kosten
Hourly fee
In principle, I will work based on an hourly fee. The fee is €270 per hour. The hourly fee is increased by 21% VAT. I do not charge office fees. You will receive periodical invoices with a clear specification of the services I have performed – in principle on a monthly basis.
Fixed-fee option
For specific services, such as a one-off advice on the feasibility of the case, or drafting or reviewing contracts, I can agree a fixed fee in many cases. I am also open to making fixed-price agreements for short proceedings such as contract termination proceedings or interim relief proceedings. I am happy to discuss these options in the introductory consultation.
Expenses
In addition to the costs of my services, handling a case sometimes requires expenses. Examples include obtaining an extract from the Chamber of Commerce, information from the Land Registry, court fees (in proceedings), or bailiff fees. These are also known as expenses. I am happy to discuss during the introductory consultation whether and what expenses will have to be incurred for your case.
Legal expenses insurance
Where possible, I will provide services at the expense of your legal expenses’ insurance. Depending on the type of case, you may be able to claim under the policy with your legal expenses insurer and outsource processing your case to a lawyer of your choice. Coverage for reimbursement of legal expenses may be limited.
No government-funded legal aid
I do not work on the basis of government-funded legal aid: as a so-called “assigned counsel”. However, you may be eligible for this as an individual. This means the government will pay your lawyer’s fees, partly or in full. The Dutch Legal Aid Board (Raad voor Rechtsbijstand) decides whether you qualify for an assigned counsel. More information is available on www.rvr.org. I recommend using the information provided by the Legal Aid Board to check whether you are eligible for funded legal aid before you contact me. If you expect to be eligible for this and want to invoke this right, it is best to turn to a lawyer who provides services as an assigned counsel. This means you will avoid unnecessary legal fees.
